Learning Outcomes
This workshop has been designed to meet the needs of all staff working in primary and community care settings who are considering being a chaperone or who are currently undertaking this role, but have not received any formal training as recommended by the Department of Health (2004; 2005). By the end of this workshop learners will understand what is meant by the term chaperone, understand the need for a chaperone, define what is an "intimate examination", be aware of the rights of the patient, understand your role and responsibility as a chaperone, identify the mechanism for raising concerns.
